Section 78
Chief of Military Police

(1) Unless otherwise instructed by the Government of Nepal, the Commander-in-Chief or an officer designated by him may appoint the Chief of Military Police.
(2) It shall be the duty of the Chief of Military Police to take charge of the person in custody for any crime, to maintain order and discipline in the army and to prevent the breaking of order and discipline by any person who is joining or serving in the Nepali Army.
(3) A person who has committed an offense or has been charged with an offense may be arrested by the Chief of Military Police at any time for the purpose of preliminary investigation and shall serve the sentence given by the military court or the officer who ordered the punishment.
